Weekend Outlook - Warm and Uncertain

Starting Thursday we will be entering a period of rapid warming that looks to continue into Sunday. This is the first real test of our buried facet layer that has been dormant since the end of January.

Freezing levels are expected to be near 4000m with little to no overnight recovery with treeline temps nearing 20c. This has the potential to have some larger avalanche paths release. These conditions will make for challenging skiing and travel. We will be limited in the terrain available for us to use safely.

Here is a great read on what we are dealing with during this warming.

Plan

We will be looking to use some more of our simple terrain in our backyard avoiding overhead hazard.

Friday - Red Heather - Skimo skills Saturday - Red Heather - Advanced companion rescue

Sunday - Red Heather based on conditions from Friday/ Saturday. Potential for rope skills day in valley if conditions dictate.

Don't hesitate to reach out! We are looking to make the most of what we have with the incoming warm temps.

I’ve had flu like symptoms since Wednesday. I might need to pull out. I’ll keep you posted on my recovery Kurt. Thanks for putting something together in challenging conditions.
