Dec 1-7, Season Begins

Hello Aurora crew,

I know this announcement is coming out a little later than usual, but that’s the reality of early season. Conditions in late November are unpredictable at the best of times—snow depth, temperature swings, wind events, hot/cold spells… you name it. A week and a half ago, there really wasn’t much snow at all. And while social media always looks impressive, remember that most of those “early season face shots” were highly curated. Good snow did exist, but it took a lot of work to find a few quality turns.

The good news for us? With the Aurora Backcountry Pass, we have an entire season together—right through the end of April. There’s never any pressure to rush into thin-cover conditions, break skis, or get injured trying to be a hero on Day 1. That said… tomorrow we begin.

ARAC course

Hello Aurora crew,

A quick reminder that registration for the ARAC course is still open. As an Aurora pass holder, you receive 30% off all courses.

I’ll be teaching the ARAC course this season, and I’m really excited about it. This isn’t a pit-digging, over-analysis style course—it’s designed to expand your knowledge and practical skills as the motivated skiers you are. We’ll focus on real-world risk management: understanding why or why not to ski a line, and how to make solid, confident decisions in the mountains.

Each day will start with “guide-style” morning meetings to streamline decision-making in the field and help you build confidence in your terrain choices.

This is a four-day course that I’m truly stoked to teach. I love sharing knowledge—but most of all, I love skiing great lines with great people!
