The weekend outlook…….the good, the bad, the ugly!

Well it has been quite the weather week! We are about to experience the final blow today from the current Pineapple express. The good news is the the precip has been moist to wet snow above 1900m for most of the week. Alpine peaks and faces should be caked. Hopefully there was a good avalanche cycle on our snowpacks PWL’s up high. The forecast is for cooling temps and unsettled but generally nice weather for Saturday, with a little more snow on the ground by Sunday. With the cooling trend, low elevation terrain will be pretty rugged so I will keep this weekends plans as lift accessed to try and get to where there are chances for some new snow post pineapple event. There is also a

decent snowfall in the forecast for Tuesday next week. Freezing levels look mid mountain so hopefully chasing powder will be back in greater…

I would say Blackcomb Alpine would be our best bet. Exactly what would be determinant on visibility, access, and surface conditions. A little skiff of new snow would be nice somewhere along the way too! But yes, I understand the plan is a little vague but it will be a day hard to hang your hat on a specific objective.

Outlook for next week

Hi Aurora crew! Mo here giving you an update for next week. Unfortunately we have a rather warm and wet forecast associated with an atmospheric river event which looks like it will last most of the work week beginning on Tuesday. I will be leaving mid week plans for touring off WB as lift access will be our best chance to find something if temperatures cooperate. Freezing levels look to fall towards the end of the storm so keep your eyes peeled here for updates!

Rogers recap - trust the process!

Just got back from the first Rogers Pass trip of the year. The public hype before the trip was that conditions would be deadly, soaking or both. The truth ended up being totally different: three great days including two in the Rockies and a finale in fresh pow and sun down Puff Daddy at Rogers Pass. Thanks to Ben and Vince for the pivot to Golden, managing the risk and finding the goods!

Don’t call it a comeback

Looks like winter is returning and is bringing low freezing levels and snow starting Tuesday! I’m guiding for Aurora this Wednesday and Thursday and it looks like storm skiing is on the menu.

Currently one person booked for Wednesday and 0 for Thursday. Mid week has been quiet in the backcountry with no people in sight on spearhead glacier last week.

Hope to see you out there

Sunday March 8th.

Good morning everyone and thank you for being patient while we get through a bit of a weather day today.

I want to update everyone for tomorrow. Freezing level will return to a more normal level with up to 10cms of snow tonight. Tomorrow looks like seasonal temps with some clearing throughout the day.
