Spearhead Traverse Single Day Details

Hey everyone! So here's some important things to know about this Saturday's mission. The single day spearhead is a big day out and all about efficiency, transitions, and keeping yourself fueled and at a level of effort where you won't bonk. We have daylight until approximately 8pm. We need to be through the major cruxes of the traverse (ie at singing Creek) by dark. We will be starting out with a climb up the south side of decker due to the lateness of the t-bars these days. There are two guides and we will be making a call by Pattison if everyone is a go or if some people will be returning and having an awesome ski day. Conditions are really awesome right now so that's a pretty good plan B!

Meetup time:

745 at base of Blackcomb gondola. With harnesses on already.

Don't park in lot 6/7/8. If you return after 8pm there will be difficulties in returning to your car. Park in lots 1-5.

Gear:

Harness + carabiner

Ski crampons

Ice axe (please let me know if you don't have one)

Everything else as light as possible.

Food:

Electrolytes & good food with lots of FAT and some gels. You are doing a marathon on skis. There will likely be opportunity to refill water at KC or russet Creek. You are 80% done there but it sure is nice.

Clothing:

All black is not allowed. You need some sun repellant cool clothing. I usually wear shorts under my ski pants. It will be warm with maybe a light wind.
