Wedge-Currie Traverse?
Hey folks!
I'm putting out feelers to see if anyone would be interested in completing this traverse to celebrate the start of spring the weekend of Mar 20th? I figured I'd post early because people might need some time to track down gear/book a day off work/get extra fit.
Goal: spend 3 days completing an awesome spring traverse with fewer crowds than the Spearhead and Neve. Get on top of a couple mountains if conditions allow.
According to the Baldwin book:
Option 1: Helicopter assist gets us up Mount Currie, we make our way towards Wedge, then ski out Blackcomb. Distance: 27km Elevation: 1560m (+ extra for summits)
Option 2: Lift assist up Blackcomb, make our way up Decker, cross towards Wedge, continue towards Mount Currie before finding our way out (with possible bushwacking although as there's now a trail I don't believe it's as awful as it used to be). Distance: 44km Elevation: 2290m (+ extra for summits)
Either direction gives the option of summits such as Decker, Eureka, Mt Neal, Mt Currie, Mt James Turner, Wedge and Weart. Bailing out down the Wedge Lake trail if things don't go to plan may also be an option.
Apparently I can't copy urls into this post, but look up the trip report from Alpine Baking (Richie So) for some inspiration.
